Our approach
As a trusted consulting partner to the public sector, Astraeus’s multi-disciplinary teams have developed a learned understanding of how to accelerate growth, efficiency, and innovation across diverse project environments. We work with organisations to develop an authentic understanding of their unique challenges, enabling us to build solutions that deliver impactful results. The success of our approach is evident in the work which we have undertaken with the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
The Challenge
The Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) is responsible for overseeing the UK’s energy policy, including efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. As part of this mandate, DESNZ administers the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). DESNZ engaged with Astraeus as the organisation needed to rapidly bolster project capacity and expedite delivery through the beta phase of the UK ETS in advance of an assessment by the regulators.
The Solution
We accelerated project delivery for DESNZ through the rapid augmentation of in-situ project teams alongside the end-to-end management of UK ETS project workstreams. This transformed their preparation for the Government Digital Service (GDS) beta assessment.
Our team’s technical excellence, alongside the depth of their learned experience, ensured compliance with Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards throughout the delivery process.
Discrete work packages
Through the identification of discrete work packages suitable for project delivery, we facilitated the development of a CDDO/ GDS compliant Agile framework that allowed us to balance regulatory compliance with rapid, iterative delivery.
Improved procedures
We continuously improved our procedures and template project documentation by integrating retrospectives and lessons learned. This ensured that we stayed aligned with ever-evolving project requirements.
Automated compliance
Automated compliance checklists allowed for systematic evaluations and mock assessments to identify compliance gaps. We ensured that organised evidence of compliance was always readily available.
Research database
We used a research database (comprising of 23 user templates for workshops, 40 user test projects, and 100+ UAT sessions) to prepare for, and successfully pass, an incredibly rigorous evaluation of the UK ETS by the regulators.
Assessment Pass
UK ETS passed a rigorous assessment by the regulators
CDDO Compliance
ETS deemed Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) compliant
GDS Compliance
ETS deemed fully compliant with government guidelines/standards
